Stay Safe Out There!

There has been a lot of information posted recently about bluegreen algae (cyanobacteria) and the threat it poses to the health of dogs and people. At Barkwells, the safety of our pets and people is of utmost importance.

To ensure the safety of our pond, we had it tested Tuesday, August 13, 2019 by an independent lab. The results show that the pond is very clean, with a level of 14 ppm of coliform on a scale of acceptable level of 200ppm

Our pond regularly experiences various stages through the year and is currently going through a non-threatening cyclical, common single-cell algae bloom that is being treated by Liquid Landscapes, our regular pond maintenance company. The pond is receiving a treatment on Wednesday, August 14, 2019. We request that all dogs and people refrain from using the pond for 24 hours. Following that treatment, the pond will again be safe for swimming by dogs and people.

We appreciate your concerns and always welcome questions, as it is vital that we maintain a safe and clean environment for all our guests, two and four-legged.
