Spring at Barkwells

Signs of spring are all around – forsythia and daffodils start the riot of tulips, azaleas and irises. Bluebirds and purple martins are nesting and the fragrance of apple and peach blossoms is in the crisp morning air. You won’t want to miss The Biltmore Estate’s Festival of Flowers.

Who can resist the lure of the mountains in the springtime? It’s also time to start thinking about summer vacation plans. Please book early to get the dates and cabin you want!

Summer at Barkwells

Relive “the old days” as you fish in the stocked pond, paddle around with your dogs in the “swimmin’ hole”, enjoy a campfire under the stars, have an old fashioned picnic at our picnic area, complete with grill, picnic tables and a buffet table, or lounge in the hammock under the oaks next to the soothing sounds of McDowell Creek.

Festivals, camps and activities abound in Asheville and Hendersonville in the summer, so if you want to go and do, check out famous fun fare like LEAF, Bele Chere and the Apple Festival at Romantic Asheville and Historic Hendersonville.

Fall at Barkwells

Autumn is spectacular in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The Blue Ridge Parkway, The Appalachian Trail, Dupont State Forest and Pisgah National Forest offer panoramic views of nature’s glorious bounty. Book early at Barkwells as our peak foliage season is mid to late October.

Winter at Barkwells

Whether there is snow or not, the crisp, clear air, brilliant blue sky and endless views make it worth the trip to the Asheville area. The Biltmore Estate shows off its holiday finery in November and December. Barkwells books early for holidays, but in the off-season, discounted rates apply and it’s easy to get here for a last minute trip or to see recent snowfall. Whether you want to ski at Cataloochee or Wolf Laurel or just cozy up in front of a romantic fire or soak in your own private hot tub, Barkwells is a great escape from the every day.
