Update from Fisher!!

Ellen and Michael attended an event for the Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy last fall and won a silent auction bid for a botanist to do a botanical survey of property. They didn’t even know then that they would have such an exciting place to explore. Clint Calhoun, botanist with the town of Lake Lure and Ellen walked all over the property finding delightful examples of the diversity of native plants in the western NC mountains.  Along the Little River, which is on 2 sides of the property, there are huge Carolina silverbells, river birch, beech trees, varieties of dogwoods and ferns, unusual lichen and lots of perennial natives like green coneflower. Ellen can’t wait to get the list of all the plants they found – ‘cause she can’t remember all of them and hopes the little flags don’t disappear…
